International Circulation: What impact will the ACCOMPLISH study have on recommendation of SPC in the JNC 8 and ESC/ESH hypertension guidelines?

Dr Dusing:  I am not a prophet really. But I am very sure that the strong preference toward the diuretic in the initial monotherapy and the strong preference toward a diuretic being part in any kind of combination will be weakened in JNC 8 as compared to JNC 7. Anything else would be a big surprise for me. I expect the role of diuretics to step a little bit back， even in the US American guidelines.
