<International Circulation>:  Some studies show that admission to the hospital for heart failure will recur with a 30 to 50 % mortality rate in the next year.  What is the major reason for that outcome?

　Prof Allen :  We know that worsening symptoms and worsening functional status among patients with heart failure is one of the strongest predictors of how patients are doing.  If patients become so sick that they need to be in the hospital， that is typically a sign that their disease has progressed. So， if I think it is an important milestone or a marker that patients have progressed -- that they are at high risk for death -- and that they probably deserve more attention， more aggressive care， and consideration for a fundamental change in their therapy.

    Dr Allen：我们知道，心力衰竭患者出现症状和功能的恶化是其病情进展的最强预测指标。若患者虚弱到入院的程度意味着他们的病情已经恶化，我认为这是患者病情已经加剧的一个非常重要的里程碑或标志，且患者此时的死亡风险很高。因此需对这些患者加强护理多加观察，调整或从根本上的改变其治疗方案。
